To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our newest team members, Rosie Spragg, our Office Manager. Rosie is already making a great impression with her enthusiasm, team player spirit and attention to detail. We caught up with Rosie to ask a few quick questions and help everyone get to know her a bit better.
Welcome to the team! What first attracted you to join our company?
I was looking forward to working within a close-knit team. This means lots of collaboration across all different areas of the business. I was keen to see what everyone does and learn and develop different skills. It’s also interesting to experience working in a different industry. I’ve witnessed lots of customers making changes to their offices and gained insight into how different companies work.
What are you most excited about in your new role?
I like that every day is different. I love the different daily interactions with clients, suppliers and my colleagues. I’m getting a broader picture of how a business operates and learning a lot.
International Women’s Day is all about celebrating women — who is a woman that has inspired you in your life or career?
My Mum. She taught me the value of a strong work ethic and to never see gender or age as a barrier to success. She built her career as a lawyer in a male-dominated company while also raising three children.
What’s a piece of advice you’ve received from another woman that has stuck with you?
A female manager once told me that you don’t have to be the most senior or the loudest person in the room to have a valid point. Also, just because someone is more confident or vocal than you it doesn’t automatically make their point the right one.
If you could have coffee with any inspiring woman (past or present), who would it be and why?
Michelle Obama. She’s got some banter, a good sense of humour, she’s very inspiring and yet appears down to earth. I think she’s made a real difference and would be a very interesting person to meet.
What’s one achievement — big or small — that you’re particularly proud of?
To date, I think this must be my Law degree from Edinburgh University. I’m also proud of myself for working as Duty Manager in a café 4 days a week alongside my university course.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you outside of work?
I’m a northerner! Also, I’m a massive women’s football fan, particularly Arsenal. I’m a season ticket holder for Arsenal ladies.
What was the last book you read?
The Housemaid. It’s a very popular book now. It turns into a thriller part-way through, and I had to finish it in two days. A classic page turner and a little scary!
What is your most played song in your playlist.
I’ve just checked my playlist, and it is ‘These Words’ by Natasha Bedingfield. Although I do love ‘Love of my Life’ by Queen.
Finally, what are you looking forward to most about being part of the team this year?
Learning more about other people’s roles and helping where I can. I recently completed an operations management course and hope to implement my newly acquired skills in the business.
End.
